I’m Laura McLeggan — an autistic, chronically ill children’s author, Creative Director, EHCP Caseworker, and SEN advocate. I specialise in building inclusive fantasy worlds for neurodivergent, disabled, and medically complex children. I’m also a Director for For The Love of Children, a SEND advocacy organisation dedicated to supporting families and challenging outdated narratives around neurodiversity.

 

I’ve spent over a decade working across SEND, SEMH, and education: supporting autistic children, children with complex needs, and pupils whose behaviour communicates the way they experience their world. I’ve worked with children in crisis, children who shut down, children who melt down, and children who speak through movement, silence, humour, stubbornness, or chaos. Their honesty and brilliance have shaped my characters far more than any writing course ever could.
